Unity Lodge 2009 Christmas Party

On March 26, some of the Brothers visited Syd Batten and his wife, Margaret.  Syd has been a Mason for sixty years, and Bro. Vince Shuler presented Syd with a 60 year pin.  Also visiting were Brothers Bob Burgermeister (the photographer), Milt Bergerson, Jim Dowell and Joe Layne.

On March 2, Pike Chapter #285, OES honored Cheryl Budwick, P.M. as the Grand Representative of Texas in Wisconsin.  Of course, the theme for the evening had a lot to do with Texas.  Looks like a Grand time was had by all!

Fran Rice likes to keep her hands busy. She does beautiful work with a Crochet hook. Fran, who is Past Worthy Matron of Pike Chapter #285, Order of the Eastern Star, also likes to help people, especially Veterans. For the last year, she has been making "lap robes" for disabled Vets in wheelchairs and donating them through VFW Post 1865 to The Southeast Wisconsin Veterans Facility at Union Grove. On March 5, Randy Holton and Adam Stoll, Case Manager/Volunteer Coordinator at the Facility went to Fran's home to pick up five more lap robes and to present a letter of thanks and a certificate of appreciation to Fran for her kind efforts. (Randy is Commander of Post 1865 and a member of Unity Lodge.  Adam is an Entered Apprentice in our Lodge)

Fran goes through a lot of yarn. If you would like to keep Fran busy and help some disabled Vets, get some yarn to Randy Holton. He will see that Fran gets to work with it.

On Valentine's day, Unity Lodge held its annual Sweetheart Dinner. Bro. Steve Hunt and Bro. Joe Layne, with help from others, provided the best steaks in town!

On January 28, several of us went to the home of Bro. Bob West, who lives in Kenosha but is a member of a Lodge in Pennsylvania.  The Grand Lodge of PA asked us to present Bro. West with his 50-year pin.  Present were Babe Kreuser, Vince Shuler, Jim Dowell and Bob Burgermeister (behind the camera).  Turns out that Vince goes to church with Bro. West.
