Retiring Worthy Matrons Report

(Retiring Worthy Matron Kenda Copsey Perroni)

To my Worthy Patron, it has been a pleasure to have you share the East with me.  Your advice and counsel have helped guide us through the year.  We have shared the ups and downs together.  Thank you for being the best Patron this Matron has ever had.

  •  Let us take a moment to recall all of the joys and sorrows we have shared this past year.

  •  ·                       We held our installation on Thursday, June 28th. Does anyone else remember how hot it was? – It was a bitter-sweet evening as we were installed. I couldn’t help thinking of our Sister Donna Rae, who was to be our Worthy Matron instead of me.  Her untimely death was such a shock to all of us and she is sorely missed.  We were all a bit nostalgic that evening as we recalled all the wonderful memories we had shared at the Kenosha Masonic Center as we said good-bye to that Grand Old Building.

  •  ·                       Shortly after we lost our dear Sister, Ruth Kuntz.  I was so honored to be able to preside as Worthy Matron at her Eastern Star funeral.  I was so thankful that we had a new home here at Unity Lodge where we were able to host a luncheon for Ruth’s family following the service.

  •  ·                       We held our first meeting on July 9th.  When we decided to sell Easter Star Teddy Bears.  To date we have sold all 200 Bears for a net profit of $1000.00 for our chapter. That was quite an accomplishment.  Thank you, for all of your hard work!

  •  ·                       On July 16th we held a family fun night, when we gathered to talk, eat, and play dominos.

  •  ·                       We held a successful Lion Safari when 6 of our members traveled to Lila B. Gasser Chapter in Sussex WI.  Where we captured Roary the Travel Lion.

  •  ·                       And who can forget our marathon meeting on September 10th.. Which brought us Barbara Irsch.  Who lead us through our district deputy school. Lets face it, sometimes there’s not enough hours in a day to do it all!  And then to top-it-all-off Roary, was stolen from us by Union Grove Chapter.

  •  ·                       We remedied that situation right away by 6 of our members going over to Union Grove’s next meeting to bring Roary back home.

  •  ·                       Roary was such a little stinker hiding himself in my suitcase when I traveled to Oklahoma’s Grand Chapter.  That little guy sure had a way of getting around!

  •  ·                       Our Official Visit was with Worthy Grand Conductress Jane Blackwood, on Oct. 29th.  I was so very proud of the fine work our officers performed that evening.

  •  ·                       In November we held our compass night.

  •  ·                       But December still brings back fond memories, of when we went to the Christmas Concert at Carthage Collage and when we honored our Youth and Masons at our December Meeting.  I still can’t believe how many Hot Dogs and Root Bear Floats we had.

  • ·                       While our Chapter was dark, Ted and I fled southwest to Arizona to avoid the winter snows of January and February, Only to find that you saved them all for us when we return in March. Thanks!  At our March 11th Meeting we honored our Past Worthy Matrons & Patrons and our True and Loyal 40 & 50 year members.

  •  ·                       We had to say good-bye to our Sister Past Grand Worthy Matron, Lou Zalinski . A special thank you goes out to Sister Lorrain Beeman and Brother Craig Wepprecht for coordinating such a beautiful Eastern Star Funeral for her which included Past Grand Worthy Matrons and Patrons. It was a fitting tribute to Lou’s life and dedication to the Order of Eastern Star.

  •  ·                       We had a Pajama Party for our April Meeting when we held our elections.  I would like to thank all of our newly elected officers for accepting their nominations.

  •  ·                       Ted and I hosted a wine social at our home on Aprl 20th.  While this was not an official Eastern Star event, we had a good turn out, and a wonderful time was had by all.

  •  ·                       We also received word of the passing of our Chapters dear friend, Sister Audrey Lindy, who had come to visit our Chapter often from Illinois.  She was the Mother of our late Sister Cheryl Budwig and Mother-in-law of Brother Wayne.  I was happy to see so many of our members attended her Eastern Star Funeral.

  •  ·                       We were all very excited in May, when we initiated three new members, Brenda Pierro, and John & Cindy Clifton. Welcome again into our Chapter. We also had the great honor and joy of seeing our own Worthy Patron, Craig Wepprecht be installed as the Grand Worthy Patron of the State of Wisconsin at Grand Session in Stevens Point Congratulations Brother Craig!

  •  ·                       Which has brought us to our final farewell meeting tonight.

Dear Sisters and brothers, you have been so kind and considerate, so helpful in all endeavors, that the success of this year was really yours.  Thank you for all the cooperation shown.  Please accept my most sincere appreciation and gratitude for allowing me this great experience.

Remember to be the change you want to see in the world.  It all starts from within.  So “Turn on the Twinkle!” and Let it Shine, Let it Shine, Let it Shine!

Respectfully Submitted this June 10, 2013
